How to Remember your Dream

Figuring out how to remember your dreams is absolutely crucial if you want to become lucid tonight or any night (this is not just for lucid dreamers, it can be for anybody interested in remembering more dreams!). Yeah, sure you can lucid dream without dream recall but what is the point if you do not remember it? Besides, it’s more fun to remember your dreams anyways. So how exactly do you go about remembering your dreams?

Now, this is where dedication comes in. The best way to remember your dreams is to wake up at the perfect times. I won’t go into huge details about the dream cycle but one thing you should know about is REM sleep. REM stands for Rapid Eye Movement and this is generally the time during sleep when people have dreams. These perfect times are generally at 4 ½, 6, and 7 ½ hours after you begin sleeping. Obviously this will not be exact but try your best to time it right

2. Do Reality Checks

Here is another simple but vital step to reaching lucidity. Reality checks are just what they sound like. They are checks by a person to see whether they are in reality or in a dream. The basic idea behind this is to get your body so used to doing these reality checks that you will end up doing them while you are in your dream. Although this is simple to do, it does take a little bit of dedication. You need to do them multiple times a day, every day. After a while, it will become part of your daily routine and you will not even have to think about it.

How to do Reality Checks

Common Reality Checks

  • The one that I tend to do most is looking at a clock. What you do is look at the time, look away for a second or two, and then back to see if the time on the clock has changed a significant amount. Most of the time, if you do this in your dream the time on the clock changes by more time then you took to look away. Once you notice this, you realize you are dreaming and therefore become lucid. This can be done with text to as it is the same concept.
  • Another example of this is looking at your hands. Generally, when you look at your hands during a dream they are distorted in some sort of way. This can be very obvious or sometimes you have to look at the detail.
  • Lastly, anything with a switch can be a great source for reality checks. Try switching on or off the lights, turning on a TV, or turning on an electronic device. If they do not work then you are probably dreaming. As long as you paid the electricity bill of course.

There are many other types of reality checks but these are very common and simplistic ways to help you realize that you are actually dreaming. Remember not to slack off when it comes to theses reality checks as they are very important. As always, have fun on continuing your mission to lucid dream tonight!

3. Keeping a Dream Diary

Keeping A Dream Diary

The next part of dream recall is keeping that all-important dream diary. Keeping a diary of your dreams is very important because it helps you to recall previous dreams and know what to expect. Every time you wake up in those previously mentioned intervals grab your dream diary and write down all you can remember right away. You can always add on later but you need to make sure you keep what you originally remember because details are important! I go into more detail about this in my dream diary section of the site.

This may be rough at first but you will get used to it and eventually not have to do it once you become an expert lucid dreamer. I do not suggest this if you are really behind on sleep but it really will help you on your journey to lucid dreaming tonight. Or at least within a few days or weeks. Now that you know how to remember your dreams, you just need to stay dedicated.

How To Lucid Dreaming?

How To Lucid Dreaming

Come to think about it, you can ask someone in your dream a question to resolve a problem and get the answer. The only limit you have is your own imagination. Learning how to lucid dream should be encouraged, not forced. Lucid dreaming can be categorized into two main methods — Dream Initiated Lucid Dream (DILD), including Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreaming, and Wake Initiated Lucid Dream (WILD). There are other methods, some of which can be combined to ensure higher chances of success in controlling dreams.

Experts note that dreams reflect people’s thoughts, sentiments, and experiences during their waking moments and that constantly thinking about something may seep into the subconscious mind. The same thing works for lucid dreaming, which is why the Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams was devised. It may seem creepy for some, but for others who want to solve problems or free themselves of troubling dreams, learning how to have a lucid dream is a major breakthrough.

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams

Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams Method Invented By: Stephen Laberge

First of all, MILD stands for Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams. It is a very simple method but you should already be doing the basic things such as Reality Checks and be keeping a Dream Diary if you want the best results.

OK, so let’s get started on the method so you can lucid dream tonight! The first thing that you need to do is get comfy. Whether it is a bed, a couch, or something else, find someplace where you can relax and fall asleep. As you lie there, clear your mind of all the thoughts flowing through your mind.

Now think about the dream that you had the night before (if you can not remember than refer to your dream diary which you should be keeping). Imagine what you would do if you could have been lucid in this dream. Think about what reality checks that you could have done that would have made you become lucid.

Think about specific details bout everything that is around you in your dream. Keep other thoughts out of your mind as much as possible and keep telling yourself that you will become lucid.

Repeat this sentence over and over in your head trying to make it your last thought before you drift off to sleep. Do all of this correctly and tonight could be your first ever lucid dream! Remember, this is very simple but the basics are very important so keep doing those reality checks and keep your dream diary up to date. Yup, that’s all there is to Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams.

Tips for Lucid Dreaming

Tips for Lucid Dreaming

Ok, I want to give you lucid dreaming tips that will help you progress. So here are a few tips for lucid dreaming:

  1. Stay calm once lucid. Do not do anything too exciting right away or you may wake up.
  2. Don’t boss your brain around… use your imagination instead and imagine things you want to happen instead of telling your brain what you want it to do.
  3. Don’t boss your dream characters around… this can work but, again, imagination is better.
  4. Go through a door and imagine what is on the other side instead of just expecting something to just pop up.
  5. Have confidence – expect you can do something and you will.
  6. Spin in circles or rub your hands if the dream begins to fade.
  7. Don’t close your dream eyes for too long.

Remember these lucid dreaming tips. They can really impact your success as a lucid dreamer. Number 2 could be the difference between dream control and lack thereof.

Benefits of Lucid Dreaming

The benefits of lucid dreaming are very plentiful. Sometimes daily life is very stressful. There are so many different things that you have to worry about on a day to day basis. For a lot of people, the weekends are nice but they just seem to go by way too fast. But what if you could have hours and hours of break time to do whatever you want every single day?

Obviously humans need sleep so that your body can get much-needed rest and be able to function properly for your next day. But what if you could take advantage of that time to do anything that your heart desires? Instead of saying, “I’m going to bed, I’ll see you in the morning”, you could be saying, “I’m going to go to the Bahamas and relax by the beach”.

Benefits of Lucid Dreaming

Not the type that just likes to relax? No problem. You are not limited to what you can do! But here is the best part. It is completely free and you are not limited to things like you are in normal, everyday life. You do not have to waste time and money traveling or take time off of work. Plus, who needs airplanes? You can just fly anywhere that you want to. All you have to do is fall asleep and you can do anything that you want.

Just stay focused on them and you should be controlling your dreams in no time! Once you learn the techniques, you can bid adieu to nightmares by turning them into good dreams.

If the benefits of lucid dreaming stopped there they would be enough. But there is more.

Benefits of Lucid Dreaming – Creativity

Benefits of Lucid Dreaming – Creativity

Think about some of the dreams that you have had in your life. I am going to take a wild guess and say that some of the stuff that you dreamed about is a little bit crazier than something you would think about when you’re awake. The reason for this is simple. You are just more creative when you are asleep. This can help you greatly in day to day life.

Let’s say you are an inventor. Just go to sleep, become lucid, and start brainstorming ideas! Chances are that you will think a little bit more creatively than when you were awake. This is just an example of the benefit of increased creativity but there are many other instances where this can come in handy.

Do you have a passion that you would like to practice at but simply don’t have time? You can just practice while you’re dreaming! This may seem a little bit ridiculous but it really works. It may not work for everything but will help with everything but can help with things such as martial arts. All in all the benefits of lucid dreaming are almost unfathomable. Welcome to a world without limits.

Lucid Dreaming Binaural Beats

Lucid Dreaming Binaural Beats

Many people use binaural beats for lucid dreaming. This is made possible by changing your brainwaves. But what do brainwaves have to do with lucid dreaming?

Well, by changing the state of these brainwaves you can in turn change the state of your dream. So if you listen to these beats they can first send you into sleep and then into the correct state of your dream so that you can begin to lucid dream. This can greatly speed up your journey to lucid dreaming by listening to these binaural beats.

That being said, there are many binaural beats out there that you cannot trust. The most trustable source that I know of is The Unexplainable Store. They seem to have every single type of binaural beat out there, including one for lucid dreaming. Many people will offer binaural beats for cheaper but more often than not, they just do not work as well as they should.

But Wait! There is more! If you search around the net a little bit then you should be able to find some recordings that people made in order to induce lucid dreams.

These can be very effective and usually, they are free! What they do is combine music with someone also talking. This makes it relaxing and if you hear the voice while dreaming than it will tell you that you are in a dream and therefore you become lucid.

In order for it to go off during a dream you can do two things:

  • If you’re lucky than the mp3 you pick up will already be formatted to go off about five hours after you start it. Basically this means that five or so hours of the recording are blank. (you are most likely to have long dreams 4.5, 6, and 7.5 hours after falling asleep)
  • If not, you can download an mp3 alarm onto your computer that starts to play mp3’s at times that you choose. This can be very effective if you want it to play multiple times, giving you multiple lucid dreams per night.

These are very nice but may not work for many as the voice can wake you up. If this happens then I suggest getting a lucid dreaming binaural beat instead.
